Action B.1: Development of a Carbon Footprint tool for the effective quantification of CO2 equivalent emission sources of pastry and flour products/Development of a state of the art database

Activity B1 (a): Literature review and evaluation on the state-of-the-science computer-based carbon footprint reduction software tools for the food supply industry existing worldwide 

Activity B1 (b): Development of a database consisting measures applied worldwide for carbon footprint reduction in the food industry 

Activity B1 (c): Development of a multi-criteria analysis tool for the selection of the best mix of measures for carbon footprint reduction in the food supply industry 

Activity B1 (d): Preparation of the innovative software operation manual and demonstration video 

Activity B1 (e): Evaluation and optimization of the software tool

 

Action B.2: Demonstration of the Carbon Footprint tool in selected food industry companies of Greece and Italy 

Activity B.2 (a): Selection of the industries that will participate in the demonstration action 

Activity B.2(b): Successful demonstration of the software tool produced in 6 pastry and flour industries in Greece and Italy / Implementation of the measures and strategies produced by the tool in 2 food industries (1 of Italy) and (1 of Greece)

Activity B2(c): Training seminars/workshops 

 

Action B.3: Evaluation of the results of the demonstration action / Suggestions for full-scale implementation of the proposed MCA tool in decision making / socioeconomic evaluation 

Activity B.3 (a): Evaluation of the results of the demonstration action/Identification and analysis of the problems encountered during the demonstration action/Development of solutions in order to overcome the problems encountered. 

Activity B.3 (b): Suggestions for full-scale implementation of the MCA tool in decision making of food industries. Economic feasibility study, environmental and social benefits assessment 

 

Action B.4: Development of a national strategy for carbon footprint reduction in specified food groups for Greece and Italy 

Activity B4 (a): Elaboration of a national strategy for carbon footprint emissions reduction for the case of Greece and Italy 

Activity B4 (b): Monitoring of the implementation of the proposed strategy in the food sector of Greece and Italy

Objective

The main objective of the LIFE FOODPRINT project is to identify, quantify and implement measures to reduce, the carbon footprint (CF) of the pastry and flour food industry sector along the supply chain while increasing competitiveness through the development of an innovative software tool.
