YIOTIS S.A. is a food industry. Products manufactured in its Athens-based facilities include baby foods, powder mixes for baking and cooking, chocolates, syrups and chilled desserts. The company was founded in 1930 and today occupies 315 employees, exports to the 5 continents, has an annual turnover of approx. €71m and, thus, is included among large enterprises according to pertinent EU legislation. The company’s financial data display a highly respected Greek food industry as annual turnover is increasing and gross profit averages more than 50% of the annual turnover. Exports account for approximately 3,5% of total annual turnover. The company’s staff is highly educated and constantly trained. Disciplines employed lie in the field of Chemistry, Agricultural Engineering, Food Technology and Chemical Engineering. It must be noted that YIOTIS annual R&D expenditures account for 3% of the company’s annual turnover, indicating the company’s orientation towards research. For the past 20 years, YIOTIS S.A. has participated in research programs mostly as coordinator. Within the last 15 years the company underwent a €15m investment comprising building expansions, new equipment and acquisition of new production lines. YIOTIS has heavily invested on its laboratories; today the R&D and Total Quality Directorate incorporates 4 laboratories: Rapid QC analysis lab, Microbiological lab, Chemical lab and R&D lab. YIOTIS R&D Team boasts more than 20 patented products in the past 15 years and its success stems from continuous research based on contemporary nutritional needs.

YIOTIS first product in 1930 was a Rice Pudding suitable for babies suffering from gluten intolerance, which established YIOTIS as a pioneering food company in the Greek market. Today, 80 years later, matching up experience and state-of-the-art food technology YIOTIS launches its "Sweet and Balance" innovative series of products, which has provided R&D and QC staff with invaluable experience.

The main objective of the LIFE FOODPRINT project is to identify, quantify and implement measures to reduce, the carbon footprint (CF) of the pastry and flour food industry sector along the supply chain while increasing competitiveness through the development of an innovative software tool.
